Local History Collections

The Hackettstown Free Public Library has many local history titles. There are materials that can be checked out from the Library and some that are only to be used in the building as reference materials. The local history materials are located on our second floor and in the community room.

Jerseyana

The Library has many books focusing on New Jersey and its people. We have titles about such topics as Cape May, New Jersey genealogy, historic Newark, the Pine Barrens, and New Jersey’s role in the American Revolution. These are just a few of the facets of New Jersey covered by our materials. Come on in and see what you’ll learn!

Hackettstown History

The Library also has materials that are concerned solely with Hackettstown and its residents. There are pictorial histories of Main Street, titles about the Native Americans who lived here, Hackettstown High School Yearbooks dating back to the 1930s, and old issues of the Star-Gazette on CD-ROM. Check out what we have and familiarize yourself with your town!
