Reading Challenges

Throughout the year different challenges will be available to readers on Beanstack. Some will be seasonal, like Summer Reading, while some will be one-time events. Some are limited by age group, while some are not. Please check below for guidelines and see the available challenges on Beanstack!

How It Works

1. Register

Go to Beanstack
Create an account with Beanstack (or log into an existing account)
Choose the Reading Challenge that suits you
Each challenge has its own badges and prizes

2. Raffle

Log your reading to receive badges every time you read a certain number of books or a certain amount of time – these badges also come with raffle tickets:

Ebooks, audiobooks, and graphic novels count
You also get badges and tickets for attending programs or completing activities

3. Rewards!

Put your digital tickets towards prizes:

Tickets for prizes will be accepted up until the final date of the challenge
Prize winners typically will be drawn and contacted the following week

Summer Reading Program

Every year, Summer Reading will be taking place on Beanstack. The theme changes every year – in 2026 it will be “Unearth a Story.” Please check below for guidelines and choose the age level challenge that works for you!

You also earn badges for writing book reviews on Beanstack!

3. Rewards!

Put your tickets towards prizes:

Tickets for prizes will be accepted up until the final date of the challenge
Prize winners typically will be drawn and contacted the following week
There are no more paper tickets! This means you can spend more time reading and less time filling out tickets!

Volunteer

The Hackettstown Free Public Library welcomes volunteers. Volunteers support the work of library staff or are assigned to work on special projects. Volunteers are accepted based on their qualifications in relation to the needs of the library and on their ability to commit to a consistent schedule of volunteer hours. Volunteers must be fifteen (15) years of age or older, except in special circumstances.
