April is Distracted Driving Awareness month. Did you know that it takes an average of 4-5 seconds to read a text; you would travel an entire football field in that amount of time at 50 MPH. Also, about 3,000 people die in crashes involving a distracted driver every year. These statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that even with all of the technology to help make our car rides handsfree, distracted driving is still problem. Please join us as Noelle Santos from the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey teaches how to be aware of distractions and demonstrates how everyone can share the road. She will also discuss strategies for drivers to prevent crashes and to understand pedestrian safety.

Noelle Santos currently works as a Public Education Coordinator for the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey with a focus on transportation safety. She recently graduated from Rutgers University last May with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and minor in Sociology. Prior to her current work, Noelle interned for the Trauma and Injury Prevention Department at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
