Physical Collections

The Hackettstown Free Public Library has almost 40,000 items on our shelves. These include books, magazines, audiobooks on CD, DVDs, Museum Passes, and more. See below for more information about each type of item we offer.

The Library offers books for adults, teens, and children. We also have large print books!

The Library subscribes to over 30 different magazines, and keeps back issues of most titles for six months. In terms of newspapers, the Library receives The New York Times and The Daily Record.  Back issues of newspapers are kept for 7 days.

The Hackettstown Free Public Library has a wide variety of music CDs in genres ranging from Alternative Rock to Jazz. We also have thousands of DVDs of feature films, documentaries, and television series.

We offer hundreds of audiobooks on CD, including titles by bestselling authors and memoirs by intriguing famous people.

We offer seeds of all kinds for the taking and even accept donations of seeds from the public. This collection was generously donated by Girl Scout Troop 97745 with aid from Donaldson’s Farm.

The Hackettstown Free Public Library has many local history titles. There are materials that can be checked out from the Library and some that are only to be used in the building as reference materials. The local history materials are located on our second floor and in the community room including Jerseyana and Hackettstown History.  View Local History →

Library of Things items are items for borrowing that are not traditional library items. These can include cake pans, kitchen appliances, e-readers, sporting equipment, etc. They are any item that the Library deems useful that most patrons would not buy for themselves and only use a few times.  View Library of Things →

The Hackettstown Free Public Library has museum passes. Purchased with funds generously donated by the Friends of the Hackettstown Library, these passes offer entry to one of four local museums, plus discounted ticket purchasing options for Centenary Stage Co. & The Crayola Experience in Easton, PA.
