Son Lewis presents Bluesography
October 12, 2024 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Artist Son Lewis presents Bluesography, a performance of blues music that traces the development of that style from its earliest stages to its most modern incarnations. Blues music has had a significant influence on virtually every form of American popular music (swing, pop, rock, rock & roll, country, jazz, Big Band, etc.). Son will present various influential styles in performance with narration and dialog explaining the music and its impact on the musical style of the period.
Son Lewis has been an active figure on the Northeast Blues scene since the 1970s. He is a recipient of a 1995 Recording Arts Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, resulting in his internationally acclaimed recording Next Train Smokin’, and was nominated in 2013 for WC Handy Award for producing the Album “Someday….” by blues legend Otis Spann. He has worked as a solo artist and with The Son Lewis Band for nearly five decades. His recorded songs have been featured on TV in NCIS and in major studio and independent films, as well as worldwide blues radio and podcasts. Son has become known as a faithful and loving interpreter of classic blues and traditional Americana music in live performance, TV, radio, and on recordings.
This program is brought to you by the Friends of the Hackettstown Library and is made possible by a grant from the Warren County Division of Cultural & Heritage Affairs.
