Join Dr. Jennifer Murray as she talks about how, in early 1863, Congress investigated General George Meade and his leadership during the Gettysburg Campaign. Numerous high-ranking officials including Meade’s enemies, Daniel Sickles, Daniel Butterfield, and Abner Doubleday all testified. This program will explore the Committee on the Conduct of the War’s investigation into Meade and consider the ways in which these hearings influenced the general’s reputation and standing.

Dr. Jennifer M. Murray is a military historian, with a specialization in the American Civil War, in the Department of History at Oklahoma State University. Prof. Murray is a prolific author and sought-after speaker, she is currently working on a full-length biography of George Gordon Meade, tentatively titled Meade at War.

This program is presented as a public service by the North Jersey Civil War Round Table and will be part of a three-part series The Winter of Gen. George Meade.
