SUMMARY:General Grant Takes Command\, Moves East\, and Keeps General Meade in Command of the Army of the Potomac
DESCRIPTION:It’s 1864\, after the Battle of Gettysburg\, the Civil War  in the east  is basically at a standstill with both Generals Meade and Lee jockeying for battlefield positions – and what is becoming more important – the North is becoming war weary! \nIt is at this point\, after his victories at Vicksburg and Chattanooga\, that Pres. Abraham Lincoln summons Gen. Grant east to take command. Coming as a continuation of the lectures of Prof. Jennifer Murray of Gen. Meade\, the NJCWRT presentations continue with Gen. Grant now in command. \nDr. Curt Fields is noted for his first-person presentation\, in uniform.   As the definitive  Gen. Ulysses S. Grant\, Dr. Fields is a highly sought after speaker on a nationwide basis. He has also been referred  to as the official Gen. Grant. Presented in a conversational style\, when  you listen you almost feel that Gen. Grant is in your living room speaking to you! \nDr. Fields has been a teacher of middle school to graduate classes.  He is also a former Memphis\, TN\, police officer and was a member of the Hostage Negotiating team for the police department. \nHe holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State in Educational Administration and Curriculum. \nHe has been a life-long student of the Civil War and when he was made aware of his physical resemblance to General Grant\, decided to portray Grant in a first-person persona to effectively use his physical stature and build to “show” people what General Grant looked like. \nThis program is presented on Zoom as a public service by the North Jersey Civil War Round Table.

DESCRIPTION:Join our Dungeons and Dragons campaign specifically for adults! \nRegister now to join in on the adventure! \nFor ages 18 and up \nThis group uses a West Marches style of campaign where various groups of player characters adventure in the same world. This enables a more fluid campaign where if someone isn’t interested in the current adventure or can’t make it to the game\, they can drop back into the game in a future session. SUMMARY:Amateur Relic Hunting: Finding History in Unexpected Places
DESCRIPTION:When I purchased my first metal detector a decade ago\, I expected to immediately find a rare historical relic. The first “hit” I got? Well\, it definitely wasn’t a priceless artifact\, but something along the lines of a modern nail or pop top. Luckily\, I’ve since uncovered some neat artifacts\, like two Civil War bullets\, early twentieth century headstamps\, glass bottles\, and more. Plus\, I’ve learned how to find historical coins in unexpected places…and for free! So join me during this presentation\, when I’ll dive into some relic hunting tips and also share some stories from my past hunts. \nKassidy Cobb has Bachelor of Science in History/Creative Writing Minor (Liberty University\, 2024) and a love for the past that inspires her to pursue her Masters in History (Liberty University\, 2027)\, Kassidy is serious about sharing history in authentic and relatable ways. Even Mike Wolfe (star of American Pickers) called Kassidy “energetic” about history. Recognized by Congress\, the Commonwealth of Kentucky\, DAR\, SAR\, DUVCW\, and countless others for her efforts to promote the past\, Kassidy has found that history isn’t just a career–it’s a way of life. \nThis program is presented on Zoom.
