A museum educator will also show some of our replicated artifacts here at the museum\, from World War I. This is a great opportunity to virtually explore our World War I Gallery and to learn more about the important role that the Marine Corps played in World War I. \nMadeline Fanta has been a Distance Learning Specialist at the National Museum of the Marine Corps for four years. She presents engaging virtual tours that bring Marine Corps history to life for students\, educators\, and audiences across the country. Madeline holds a deep\, lifelong passion for history\, especially military history\, and is dedicated to making the stories of Marines accessible\, meaningful\, and inspiring for all learners. \nSuitable for all ages! DESCRIPTION:Join our Dungeons and Dragons campaign specifically for adults! \nRegister now to join in on the adventure! \nFor ages 18 and up \nThis group uses a West Marches style of campaign where various groups of player characters adventure in the same world. This enables a more fluid campaign where if someone isn’t interested in the current adventure or can’t make it to the game\, they can drop back into the game in a future session. It also allows multiple groups to play without interfering with each other but still progressing the story. \nThis is ideal for a public game because it allows players to drop in and out of the story as needed and each session can consist of a different set of players\, allowing everyone a chance to play! \nMeets on the final Saturday of every month* (see dates) \nSpace is limited. Please register each attendee separately. \nNote: Always pre-register for any session they plan to attend as there are limited spots. SUMMARY:Creating a Compelling College Application This Summer
DESCRIPTION:We are offering this Zoom presentation to help high school juniors and their parents understand how to use the upcoming summer productively to create a compelling college application. \nWe will cover the college application process\, including current admissions trends\, writing the personal statement and supplemental essays\, securing strong teacher recommendations\, and understanding how students can position themselves to increase their chances of admission. \nWe will also explore why a student’s ability to express insights\, experiences\, and personal growth through their essays is more important than ever. \nOur presentation will include application strategies\, such as the advantages and disadvantages of early decision\, early action\, and regular decision. We will review the factors students should consider when deciding whether to submit standardized test scores for test optional colleges and universities. We will also explain the different pathways through which students can be admitted to a particular school. \nWe will examine the holistic admissions review process\, what admissions officers consider important when evaluating applicants\, and how students can develop a compelling narrative that strengthens their applications. \nWe will also discuss the importance of community service and how it offers opportunities for personal growth and character development.
